PRESTON ADDISON-President/Owner Preston has worked in the construction trades since 1985. After receiving his B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from U.C.S.D. in 1994, he apprenticed with designer and builder Ross Molyneux. Later, he worked as a biology teacher for almost a decade and Regional Occupational Program (ROP) construction teacher in Sonoma County.
Growing up amid the vineyards of Napa Valley and the magnificent peaks of the Trinity Alps, Preston’s aesthetic was largely influenced by the natural landscape. As teenagers, he and Micah helped to build their parents’ off-the-grid home in Weaverville, California, a remote and rural setting tucked among firs and pines.
Preston’s love of mountains and his appreciation for sustainable architecture increased during his year abroad as an exchange student in Norway where he lived in the small western town of Førde and worked with some of the town’s local craftsmen. The natural beauty of both the Trinity Alps and the fjords of Norway engendered a desire to build in a way that complements the surrounding environment rather than supplant it.
He lives in the foothills south of Cloverdale with his wife, Wendy, two children Finn and Rowan, and their beloved pet basenji, K.D. (Karma Dog).

MICAH ADDISON-VP/Owner Like his brother, Micah learned how to frame a room addition and pour a slab before he hit his teens. Having spent most of his childhood living off-the-grid in the mountains of Trinity County, Micah also cultivated the necessary skills for developing bare land and building a new home in the wild. That experience made him understand and value the importance of quality materials and solid construction techniques.
Micah spent the early part of his career in cabinetry finishing, apprenticing with Jim Gruenholz at Frog’s Hair Finishes where he worked as foreman for four years and gained experience working with various finishing materials and techniques. In 2003, he began a ten-year career at Western Water, working his way up to the position of Project Manager.
As Project Manager, Micah oversaw multi-million dollar municipal projects. He coordinated and managed the consultants, tradesmen, and representatives of the various municipalities with whom Western Water contracted. As Vice President and Project Manager of Karma Dog Construction Inc., Micah is the company Superman in charge of the day-to-day scheduling and managing of subcontractors and employees. He is also a Certified Safety Compliance Officer who administrates the KDC safety program. Most importantly, his job is to make sure that KDC Inc. clients’ needs are not only met, but exceeded. When he is not managing jobs for KDC Inc., Micah loves to ride his motorcycle above the hills of Bishop, California and hula hoop with his daughter, Becka.

KDC Inc. works towards its sustainability mission by building beautiful spaces of timeless appeal that will last for generations. We believe that using quality materials and superior construction practices is the best way to reduce our carbon footprint. Before beginning each project, the team, along with the client, considers the building site, building conditions, and the available materials in order to make the optimal design and construction decisions. Preston’s work in conservation biology, and his Green Building coursework through SSU, have also influenced his design and construction practices. KDC Inc. is also an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm.

As artisans with the highest level of attention to detail, KDC Inc. believes that quality construction comes from quality employees. We source local experts for specialized work. In order to continue the evolution of our team, KDC Inc., is committed to the continual professional growth of every member of our staff. That educational process involves regular safety training, industry education for employees in the latest construction techniques, and new product and design education for both our field and design staff. Licensed and insured, you can feel confident knowing that your project will be built with the best materials, techniques, and safety considerations.

We do the job right because it’s the right thing to do. Overseeing projects from the drafting table to doorbell installation, we strive to indefatigably protect our client’s interests. This entails delivering the highest quality product while fulfilling our fiduciary duty. We do the job right, even if it means that Preston gains one more grey hair and Micah another.

We are firm believers in “good karma.” We support our community in part by sourcing materials locally and subcontracting local artisans. In addition, we donate our time and materials to build community projects such as the Kleiser Park Renovation Project in Cloverdale. As project manager, Preston directed community volunteers and Rotary and Lions Club members to successfully transform a weedy lot into a vibrant public space that is heavily used by students and Cloverdale residents.
Moreover, Karma Dog Construction Inc., donated their time and materials to build a pump house for the Cloverdale Unified School District, ensuring irrigation for Kleiser Park.
We are also proud to be a long-term sponsor (and namesake-Go Karma Dogs!) of the Cloverdale Youth Soccer League. Micah volunteered his time as assistant coach and enjoyed a successful season with the U12 Boys team.
KDC Inc. also supports the Western Cave Conservancy through donations and volunteer work.
